I got a call today (18th October 2015) at around 12:30pm from a guy who claimed to be calling from RBI. He said my ATM card is not working since 11am today and that I need to share with him the ATM card number to re-activate. RBI, please take a note and address it. Please take strict action

Ms Soniya,

At the outset, let me clarify that this site is designed by a group of Senior Banking Professionals to assist Bank Customers at large to provide guidance for resolution of any query / complaint / grievance in respect of financial services.  This site does not belong to any Bank or a Regulator, which may please be noted.

As regards seeking ATM card number by a fraudster purported to be calling from RBI, please note that RBI does not maintain any account of individuals. RBI/Bank Officials never calls for seeking any personal information. This message is displayed on the website of almost all Banks. Please do not part with any personal information over phone, email or even in person.

You may lodge a police complaint against unknown person seeking ATM number. You may provide the phone/mobile number from where you received the call.

Regards

Deepak
