Dear Rajeshri

It is a ridiculous response from the bank that the charges can not be reversed, because they were system generated.  First of all, you need to check with your new management, what sort of benefits are being given to their salary account holders.  Also, should simultaneously check with the bank, whether they converted your account into a 'Salary' account with 'zero' average balance or not.  Thereafter, take it up with either with your management or the bank, for reversal of the charges.

Ms Rajeshri,

At the outset, let me clarify that this site is designed by a group of Senior Banking Professionals to assist Bank Customers at large to provide guidance for resolution of any query / complaint / grievance in respect of financial services.  This site does not belong to any Bank or a Regulator, which may please be noted.

If I understand correctly, you had a salary account with the Bank when you were working for your previous employer. Upon changing the job, you intend to use same account for salary credit and you got account code updated with the Bank. I also presume that your present company is having salary accounts of its employees with the same Bank. Bank has been offering zero balance facility to the salary account holders of your company.

Whatever mentioned above is correct then you should not be charged for non-maintenance of AMB. Please get in touch with HR of your company and write to the nodal officer - grievances of the Bank whose coordinates (contact) would be available on the Bank's website. There is nothing like system has levied charges and those can not be reversed. You may also meet up with senior officials of the branch for reversal of charges. If you do not get satisfactory response from the nodal officer within a reasonable period, you may approach Banking Ombudsman for resolution.

Regards

Deepak
