Fraudulent for upgrading ATM card validity?

Yesterday, my sister received a call from unknown person pretended to be from bank. He told that he will increase the validity of your ATM card and asked ATM card details including OTP and CVV. My sister was not aware and she shared all details with him due to which we lost 5000 rs. Now, I have blocked the ATM card.Transaction was done through POS  Mumbai Mahin. Can the people involved in doing fraud be catched? Kindly take the action at earliest

At the outset, let me clarify that this site is designed by a group of senior Banking Professionals to assist Bank Customers at large to provide guidance for resolution of any complain/query/grievance in respect of financial services. This site does not belong to any Bank or a regulator, which may please be noted.

It is unfortunate that your sister has fallen victim of a vishing fraud. This is in spite of every bank repeatedly alerting customers not to compromise personal and confidential information to anyone, as banks never call for such information under any circumstances.  Please advise your sister to lodge a police complaint. It is the duty of the Police to investigate and bring the culprits to book. Your sister's bank cannot do anything in the matter.
