New debit card - online payment issue - reg?

Sir, Good Afternoon I have got a new Debit Master card recently. This card is working with ATM. There is no issues. But when I tried to pay my LIC premium using debit card I am getting a message : Please enter a Valid Visa card number" from the website www.billdesk.com. Kindly help me to resolve this issue please. with regards, jayasankar

At the outset, let me clarify that this site is designed by a group of senior Banking Professionals to assist Bank Customers at large to provide guidance for resolution of any complain/query/grievance in respect of financial services. This site does not belong to any Bank or a regulator, which may please be noted.

If  the debit card issued to you is working fine in ATM there is no reason for it not being valid for other relevant transactions.  I suppose, the card is 'Visa Card' and not Master Card or RuPay Card. Please check.  You can attempt once more and if your experience is same as you have narrated, please contact call centre of your bank and lodge a complaint. You would surely get required clarification and solution to the problem.
