Hi, My name is Sachin Shetty & A/c no. is XXXXXXXXXX6054. I had opened a salary account in your bank 2 yrs ago. Last week i checked my mini statementI was debited Rs.515.25 twice for SMAB charges.
I was even not informed anything before or after the deduction of above said heavy SMAB charges and that too twice. This is really an unprofessional approach by bank. So i would request you to refund Rs.1030 to my A/c. So that i can consider to pursue my relations with bank

Dear Sachin

At the outset, let me clarify that this site is designed and managed by a group of Senior Banking Professionals to assist Bank Customers at large to provide guidance for resolution of any complain/query/grievance in respect of financial services. This site does not belong to any Bank or a regulator, which may please be noted.

If the bank has levied SMAB charges on your SALARY account, the reason could be that NO salary credits must have taken place in the account for more than 3 months.  It is a general regulation among the banks that if salary credits do not happen continuously for 3 months, they treat it as a normal savings account and charges, as applicable would be levied.  If you have changed the employer, it should have been informed to the bank accordingly and account closed or continued as a normal one, in adherence to required minimum average balance.  Nevertheless, may get in touch with the branch officials / manager and request for reversal of the charges, which they might consider.
