Money debited from my account but merchant not paid?

I swipe my debit card  pos on 8th January 2016 for the amount of Rs. 37538. The amount debited from my account but merchant is not paid. I complained this issue to customer care on 10th January 2016 but it has passed more than 40 days but they don't have any update about my money.

At the outset, let me clarify that this site is designed and managed by a group of Senior Banking Professionals to assist Bank Customers at large to provide guidance for resolution of any complain/query/grievance in respect of financial services. This site does not belong to any Bank or a regulator, which may please be noted.

Your account would get debited, only when the swipe transaction has been approved and the money would have been transferred to the beneficiary bank.  Since the amount is substantial, instead of waiting for a revert from the customer care, you should have got in touch with your bank and enquired the factual status.  Please speak to your relationship officer / branch manager to understand, whether the transaction was successful and if so, why the beneficiary / merchant is not in receipt of the funds.  Also, need to rule out the possibility that the merchant is not trying to hoodwink you.  Need to initiate further course of action, only post ascertaining the fact, as to where the debited fund is lying.
