Credit card fraud by Bank?

My last date of payment was 11 march . I submit my cheque by 8 march 10:30 am at bank. they charged me rs 1030 for late payment in next bill. customer care executive says that your payment was late. this is absoulote fraud. they said we received your payment by 16 march. my bank statemt says paymet of cheque was dr on 13 march. this is fraud by bank they are demanding late fees in every bill

At the outset, let me clarify that this site is designed and managed by a group of Senior Banking Professionals to assist Bank Customers at large to provide guidance for resolution of any complain/query/grievance in respect of financial services. This site does not belong to any Bank or a regulator, which may please be noted.

Last date for payment was 11 Mar, whereas your account was debited only on 13 Mar.  Thus, your payment for the credit card was delayed and bank might have levied the late payment fee, interest, taxes etc.  However, you need to find out from the bank, as to why the cheque got debited in your account on 13 Mar, when it was given to the bank on 8 Mar, right at 10:30 am.  If they have presented it late, then the bank is not in order in levying the late fee and other charges.  You can proceed against the bank, if you have an acknowledgement of the cheque given to the bank on 8 Mar.  

It is suggested that since delay in credit card payments would entail heavy late fee, interest, taxes etc., either the funds are transferred through NEFT or if by cheque, the same should be handed over to the bank at least 5 days ahead of the due date, that too under proper acknowledgement.
